Want to test:
BPAL scents I'm interested in trying/acquiring are listed here.

cutting for lengthCollapse )

BPTP
Bath oil samples/partials, older ones espec. of interest
Massage oil samples/partials, older ones espec.
Atmo spray samples/partials

Non-BPAL DISOs:
Even decants/half-decants would make me smile
The Morbid the Merrier - The Saw Is Family
Velvet Moon Bathery - Witching Hour
Blooddrop - Exorcism (bottle, full or partial, especially welcome)
Arcana - Holy Terror (backup)

I like honey, resins/amber/frankincense, sandalwood; woods in general (mmm, cedar and balsam: ilu); rose; tea, spices, lavender, bergamot, lemon/citrus; airy, herbal, minty, or aquatic; carnation, lilac, sweet pea and stocks; jasmine in moderation; smoke, leather, tobacco; light incense; or milk/cream is OK if not sugary. Apples I usually love. But I don't like Lambs-wool or Pomona (too sugar-sweet), so it can depend on the mix. Coconut is a food smell I like to wear.

Notes of death: Patchouli (BPAL's version, at least), gardenia, stargazer lily, dominant neroli or vetiver. Sugar, champagne, violet, and lemongrass don't usually agree with my skin chemistry.

I don't care for most super foodie scents. Exceptions: cocoa and (non-sugary) vanilla, honey, tea, chai, spices, and apple. Exception for Bedbug, which is only really foodie on me till it dries. I don't really want to smell like cupcakes even though I LOVE them, you know? But sniffing someone else's foodie bottles some time would be interesting. *nudges Seattle BPALers*

Current faves: everyday - Anapurna Apple Blossom SN, Haunt Wincester, Juliette Had a Gun Not a Perfume, 7 Billion Hearts. I like to sleep in Pontia, Werepuppy, Palmyra, Winchester, or SGA so that I have good dreams. I don't wear florals as often as non-floral blends, and I like light florals better than heavy ones. I do love rose, though.

I believe in hot tea, aromatherapy, massages, and naps, and in growing things and baking. I adore long hot baths with a book. Especially with a bath fizzy, bath salts, or oil. I'm not a bar soap user, but do like gels, scrubs, and whipped soap. I burn lots of candles and Japanese incense.

I'm on the BPAL forum with the same username, but mostly a lurker. My feedback post on LJ: http://community.livejournal.com/bpal_feedback/214397.html

I'm still viewing S1 of Powers thanks to videocluster.net. I have been watching DVDs from the library, most recently Jesse Eisenberg in Now You See Me. I'm a member of SIFF, and there have been a number of free screenings lately, including Moonlight, Edge of Seventeen, Indivisible, and La La Land. Moonlight was the best one of that group by far: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4975722/. Still unemployed, still pretty happy about that. I am still in recovery mode physically, tbh. Not sure I coud work more than part-time right now anyway. I've been seeing my therapist because it's cheap right now because I met my insurance co-pay max. I have some decisions to make re my career, living situation, etc. And I feel the heavy weight of the holiday blues descending...

Things that make me happy right now

1. The kittens! They are getting big, so look half-grown now at 4 and 5 months. But Wash and Zoe are the drivers of normality, forcing me to a schedule so I'm more productive. Their messes certainly keep me busy.

2. Media: I've been working my library card hard with renting DVDs and books. Lately I've seen:
  • the documentary Jane's Journey (Jane Goodall is so inspiring)

  • Gainsbourg (love the animated sequences and the musical performances)

  • Snowden

  • Hector and the Search for Happiness, because I adore Simon Pegg

  • Sea of Trees, directed by Gus van Sant, with an outstanding Matthew McConaughey

  • Eight Days a Week, which reminded me of my childhood love of The Beatles

  • Captain Fantastic, with a wonderful cover on the soundtrack: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BR3rJ5fTIB4

  • Match, with an outstanding Patrick Stewart, Carla Gugino, and Matthew Lillard

and other films.

Also, I didn't care for Orange Is the New Black (I wanted to shank Piper) despite the great acting and writing, and I did enjoy Anthony Stewart Head and Eve Myles in You, Me & Them(series 1).

3. Books! I've been reading tons of books while unemployed, and have nearly completed the Goodreads Challenge goal I set of 365 books read in 2016. I can't even list all the great books, but I did want to call out this one because I want fanfic for it (f/f and m/m): Friends with Boys by Faith Erin Hicks is a wonderful YA manga and I think adults would also like it:

4. Unemployment! I won't feel that way when I run out of money (ha!) but for now I am so loving the time to heal.
I am just starting to get serious looking for a job. Physically, I feel pretty good, with way more energy and less pain than I had in May. The anti-inflammatory meds are helping at last. Daily naps are not needed, although I still take one at least every other day if I can.

Gardening has been good exercise, and my front and back yards are the best they have ever looked.

I got two kittens 10 days ago, and while they are way more work than I remembered, they add such joy to my daily life that I don't regret getting them. I named them Zoe and Wash, and they are so cute and such annoying little furballs.

I hope you all are enjoying the summer.
There are only 40 tix left, so get one now if you are interested. No free passes/volunteer passes left.

Sexually questioning high-school freshman Neil (Michael Johnston, "Teen Wolf") discovers a new creative outlet when his new friend Julia (Hannah Marks, "Awkward.") takes him down the rabbit hole of online erotic fan fiction.

Neil (Michael Johnston, "Teen Wolf"), a high-school freshman in small-town Texas, has no idea where he lands on the sexuality spectrum, but at least he has an outlet: He covertly writes erotic stories, having imaginatively turned a famous science-fiction franchise icon into a polysexual adventurer. Upon discovering his secret, all his fellow classmates further ostracize the shy teen—all but Julia (Hannah Marks, "Awkward."), who, impressed with his imagination, becomes Neil's mentor and introduces him to the online world of slash—erotic fan fiction between preexisting characters, usually of the same sex—and leads him to an adults-only website called the Rabbit's Hole. As the two teens' worlds (real and imagined) change with their evolving identities, and Neil contends with the sexual advances of the Rabbit's Hole's editor (Michael Ian Black, Wet Hot American Summer), they prepare for an upcoming convention in Houston, a place where they will be sure to find acceptance. Slash's power is in its love for its characters, keeping the narrative grounded and empathetic in its portrayal of erotic fantasies and sexual anxieties and respecting the internet subculture it represents.

Director Biography
Clay Liford has written and directed three features, including Wuss (SXSW 2011, AFI 2011 Audience Award Winner) and Earthling (SXSW 2010). His comedy short My Mom Smokes Weed has played over 40 festivals, including the 2010 Sundance Film Festival.

Has Hell frozen over?

I created a Facebook account yesterday for professional networking purposes, after a decade of resistance to blandishments. So if you know me in real life, feel free to add me. :) I won't connect my fannish identity to that one (work and family the reasons to maintain privacy), but it's OK if you are out on your fb. I'm not likely to be a heavy user once I find a job. Right now I have the time and energy to be more social.
